When it comes to the details of an addition, there so are so many directions you can go. Maybe you’re interested in adding a new sunroom or transforming an existing one. Or, maybe you’re preparing for a new family member and need some extra space. If you are in the process of planning an addition we would love to help you make your plans a reality.
In this blog, we’ll be walking you through an addition and kitchen remodel that we completed this spring. This is a general guide, as the prices and processes really vary from project to project. For a customized estimate, email us at info@brentwoodbuilders.net.
For this project, we worked on two sections; the in-law quarters and a kitchen addition. The focal point of the project was the kitchen, so we’ll be focusing on those details and prices in this blog.
With each aspect of this addition, it was our goal to match the work with that of the existing house. This home is in a historic neighborhood, so it was important to the homeowner that it would hold the same integrity and blend in.
Exterior ($20,000 - 30,000)
We used the same stone and brick to keep the historic character flowing seamlessly throughout the home. The replacement windows match the original with grills outside the glass, and the custom curved wood door matches the original front door as well.
The roof was done with real slate, matching the original roof while the siding was done with a hardy plank, which mimics the existing cedar siding.
Interior ($33,000 - 60,000)
This homeowner had a complete vision for her kitchen, and we were excited to bring that to life!
- Slate Floors ($3,000 - 5,000): These helped keep an original/historic feel.
- Two-Toned Cabinets ($20,000 - 25,000): The upper cabinets were off white while the bottom were maple wood with a medium brown stain.
- Wallpaper ($1,000 - 2,000): Instead of backsplash, this client chose to incorporate wallpaper with a decorative quartz piece behind the oven that ties in with the countertops.
- Lighting ($1,000 - 2,000): The brass fixtures around the room add warmth and detail!
- Vaulted Ceilings ($10,000 - 15,000): The vaulted ceilings open up the room, creating a unique architectural design element.
Total Budget - $63,000-91,000
